CMST& 101 - Introduction to Communication Credits: 5
Humanities The purpose of this course is to help students understand and engage in the principles of communication theory as it is practiced in everyday life. The course will cover skills and techniques needed for effective communication in a variety of contexts including interpersonal relationships, groups, multicultural and gender contexts, public communication, and mediated communication. Students will learn how to isolate and define how particular communication processes are related to power, modern life, and identity, and to recognize the different ways that communication impacts our understandings of the world and ourselves.
