Mission: In response to diverse student needs, the Mathematics Department provides a broad curriculum, varied instructional approaches, and supportive resources to help students learn mathematics.  We foster success in learning and the value of achievement in mathematics, as well as the relevance, usefulness, appreciation and enjoyment of mathematics.

Mathematics Transfer Program: If you are considering a major or minor in mathematics, we have the courses you need for the first two years of study.   Mathematics majors at universities have several focus options from which to choose, including Actuarial Sciences, Applied Statistics, Mathematical Modeling/Applied Mathematics, Operations Research, Secondary Teaching of Mathematics and Theoretical Mathematics.

Olympic College offers the following pathway toward a university major in mathematics:

The Associate in Arts- Direct Transfer Agreement (AA-DTA) meets guidelines for direct transfer to most colleges and universities in Washington.

Math Academic Plan: Individual academic plans will vary based on when you start the calculus sequence.  Focus your distribution choices and elective credits toward meeting your educational goals and area of interest.  Requirements for transfer institutions may vary, so work with your Success Coach or a Faculty Advisor to design your academic plan.

Disclaimer: This map is for planning purposes only and does not constitute a contractual agreement.

Students who plan to declare a math major when they transfer to a four-year college or university are responsible for contacting the appropriate advisors at the transfer institution to determine which additional classes they may need to take while attending OC.
