AEGS 200 - Intro to Queer Studies Credits: 5
(H/SS/DSJ) This course is an introduction to Queer Studies. Students will examine how historical, political, and social forces shape gender and sexuality in relation to race and other forms of social difference. An emphasis is placed on the experiences and intellectual contributions of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, two spirit, intersex, asexual, and gender non-conforming communities (among others) for interrogating power. Topics may include queer theory, history, literature, politics, activism, and media and pop culture. Formerly AECS 102: The LGBTQ Experiences
Prerequisite: Any of the following are recommended but NOT required: AEGS 100, AEGS 101, AEGS 205, ENGL&101, or SOC& 101. 5 hours Lecture
