AEGS 205 - Intro to Women’s and Gender Studies Credits: 5
(H/DSJ) The Introduction to Women’s and Gender Studies investigates gender through interdisciplinary and intersectional lenses. We examine what gender is, how it differs from sex, sexuality, and gender identity, what sexism and heterosexism are, and how these concepts have material effects on U.S. and global societies. We consider how people of various genders, races, nationalities, and abilities have fought–and continue to fight–for gender equity and social justice. Topics may include critical gender theory, history, literature, politics, activism, and media and pop culture. Formerly HUMAN 220 and HUMAN 220/320
