AEGS 202 - Intro to Latino Studies Credits: 5
H - Humanities This course is an introduction to Latino Studies. An emphasis is placed on examining the cultural expressions, historical experiences, and contemporary social issues that gave rise to and continue to shape “Latina/o/x” identities and communities. We will also consider the political, economic, and historical linkages between the United States, Latin America, the Caribbean and other regions. Topics may include Latino and Latin American history, literature, art, politics, activism, and media and pop culture. Note: “Latinx” is used as a gender-neutral term for “Latinas” and “Latinos.” Formerly ACES 202
Prerequisite: Any of the following are recommended but NOT required: AEGS 100, AEGS 101, ENGL&101, or SOC& 101.
