Education (AA-DTA)

With an AA-DTA degree from Olympic College, students can directly transfer to a WA state public university. In contrast, if they choose to transfer to a private university that offers a teacher education training program, their transcript will be scrutinized for transferability and not all courses may transfer. Therefore, it is essential that students who plan to transfer to a private school either within Washington state or out of state work closely with an advisor at the institution they plan to transfer to before completing their education plan. 

A degree in Education is a useful tool leading students to multiple career paths. With an AA degree students might choose to become a Paraeducator or Teacher Assistant, working alongside the classroom teacher and often working with Special Needs students. Another option is to become a Preschool Teacher.

Another pathway includes becoming a K-12 teacher in a public or a private school by earning a bachelor’s degree at a 4- year institution. A third pathway involves becoming a professional tutor or working in an administrative staff capacity at an institution of higher education.
