FILM 200 - Documentary Filmmaking I Credits: 5
In this hands-on course, students will engage in the development and pre-production stages of a documentary film project. Students will research and find a great story, developing their idea into a workable idea for their non-fiction film project. They will create a pitch deck and reel to secure the necessary funding for their project. They will create a budget for their documentary film and learn how to pitch to buyers, production companies, investors and grantors. Students will practice the art of archival research to collect the necessary photos, videos, headlines and graphics for their story, how to assemble the right crew, and outline their story as they enter the production phase. Prerequisite: FILM 290 and FILM 292 (or FILM 285 )
