College Success Course Policy

College Success Course Policy

Olympic College requires that beginning in Fall 2024, all newly admitted students who are enrolled in the Associate in Arts - Direct Transfer Agreement degree are required to successfully complete a College Success course (COLL 110 or COLL 133) in the first two quarters regardless of full- or part-time status. The College Success courses help students transition into college and introduce them to Olympic College resources and skills to support academic success.

Students who meet any of the following criteria are exempt from this policy:

  • Transfer in with 30 credits or more and minimum 2.0 GPA from a college/university with institutional accreditation.*
  • Completed a degree at a college/university with institutional accreditation.
  • Successfully completed (2.0, C, P, or higher) an equivalent course at another institution within the past two years.
  • Matriculating at another institution and attending Olympic for a quarter.

Students returning to OC with fewer than 30 credits will be required to complete the college success course unless they have previously completed the course with a passing grade.

* Does not include exam-based dual credit options (Advanced Placement (AP), Cambridge International (CI), International Baccalaureate (IB) programs) or Career and Technical Education (CTE) Dual Credit and College in the High School (CiHS) course-based dual credit options.
