The GED Test is composed of 4 tests: Reasoning through Language Arts, Math, Social Studies, and Science. Students taking the GED Preparation course come in with a foundation in reading, writing, and math and need a refresh. If students need more detailed foundational instruction, then they will be registered in that subject specific TSABE course. Within GED Prep 1, 2, and 3 a student will move from refining basic reading, writing, speaking and listening, and math skills to proficient skills in each of these areas. Upon completion of GED Prep 1, 2, and 3, a student will be able to confidently pass the 4 tests that comprise the GED Test.

GED Prep 1 focuses on interpreting fiction and non-fiction, conventions of English grammar, writing informative/explanatory text, and arithmetic. An overview of Civics and Earth Science will be contextualized within the Language Arts content. This course aligns with the Reading, Writing, Speaking/Listening standards as described in the WA SBCTC College and Career Readiness Standards, as well as some of the WA OSPI Civics and Earth Science standards.
