TSABE 043 - GED Prep 3

Credits: 5

The GED Test is composed of 4 tests: Reasoning Through Language Arts, Math, Social Studies, and Science. Students taking the GED Preparation course come in with a foundation in reading, writing, and math and need a refresh. If students need more detailed foundational instruction, then they will be registered in that subject specific TSABE course. Within GED Prep 1, 2, and 3 a student will move from refining basic reading, writing, speaking and listening, and math skills to proficient skills in each of these areas. Upon completion of GED Prep 1, 2, and 3, a student will be able to confidently pass the 4 tests that comprise the GED Test.

GED Prep 3 focuses on honing critical thinking skills, writing skills, and interpreting written text. Algebra skills are applied to more advanced equations. An overview of Economics, Geography, World Issues, and Physical Science will be contextualized within the Language Arts content. This course aligns with the Reading, Writing, and Speaking/Listening standards as described in the WA SBCTC College and Career Readiness Standards, as well as some of the WA OSPI Physical Science, Economics, and Geography standards.
